Vincent Rubens – Untitled (Self Portrait) – 2022

Vincent Hieronymus Rubens was born some time in the 1950s, and worked for the government until his retirement in 2014.

That’s all I’ve been permitted to say. Per the request of Mr. Rubens, I’ve omitted all biographical information prior to his retirement.  ~RL

Rubens now works from his studio in an undisclosed location in North America. He is known as much for his massive canvases and vibrant style as he is for his reclusive and eccentric behavior, Shunning public appearances, preferring instead to conduct business through an agent representative.

For all inquiries, please visit the site of his social media manager and agent representative, Robert L. Lynch at www.robertllynch.com

“My work explores the relationship between the Military-Industrial Complex and multimedia experiences. With influences as diverse as Wittgenstein and Andy Warhol, new tensions are generated from both traditional and modern structures.

Ever since I was a student I have been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of meaning. What starts out as vision soon becomes corroded into a hegemony of futility, leaving only a sense of nihilism and the unlikelihood of a new order.

As wavering replicas become distorted through emergent and repetitive practice, the viewer is left with a hymn to the outposts of our existence.”

~ V. Rubens

If you’re reading this, congrats on being clever. Vincent Rubens is wholly a fabrication of Robert L. Lynch, as are all his works.  Now that you’re in on the joke, go check out Robert’s site (linked above) and buy some prints or merch. Have a nice day! ~RL
